So first off what is Boudoir photography? It can mean many different things to many people. I usually think of it as intimate portraits that you take for yourself or a partner. Not usually something you share with the public but some people do. While there are variations of boudoir I usually think good boudoir portraits infer more than they show. The point is to be sexual and feel beautiful. Put the viewer in a position of someone in the room with you. Now many women will say they are taking boudoir portraits for their spouse. However, most women are really doing it for themselves. It is a way to remind yourself that you are not your job, you are not just a mother or taxi driver for your family. You are a beautiful desirable person. No matter what size you are or how old you are.
Now that we understand Boudoir what is the difference in that and Fine Art Photography? Fine art photography is a genre which focuses on the human form and landscape through composition and aesthetics. Essentially it is the celebration of the human body through art. Much like the ancient statues and artists have done for thousands of years. Fine art nudes can include the face and whole body but it is not uncommon to only include sections of the body as stand alone art. It is not intended to bring the viewer into the room with you like boudoir but to offer the viewer a chance to appreciate the beauty before them.
Now what woman would not want to be appreciated as art?
